The meeting was declared open by the President General, Engr. Silas Anonde, opening prayers was said by Mr. Johnson Obueze. The secretary of the Association was absent from the meeting though was reported that the secretary was sick resulting from the injury he sustained from a car accident. As a result of the secretary’s absence, there was no reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. Some of the preceding of the previous meeting was reported off hand to the house by Mr President, on his report, he told the house that there was not much preceding in the past meetings because the day marked the inauguration of the newly elected town union executives and taking of oat of office .After the inauguration at the community primary school, Amankwo Imezi, the house moved to the Igwe C.C Obueke’s palace for official presentation of the inaugurated executives to the Igwe. He further disclosed to the house that the Igwe did not welcome the new executives, lamenting that he was never for one day supported the said election conducted by the town union let alone in support of the said elected executives. At the end of the day’s meeting after all the blab la talk from Igwe, he was made to see reasons why he should support the program of the town union and stop all sort of propaganda initiated in his kingdom.
Mr. Johnson Obueze demanded explanation on the town union squabble with Igwe tagged as Umuenechi affair. HRH Igwe was trying to convince Umuenechi that he did not accept the town union because his people, Umuenechi were not adequately represented in the executives of the Town Union. The matter raised by Mr. Johnson Obueze was addressed by Mr. Samuel Ikwuezeagu who disclosed the preceding of Umuenechi’s meeting where the matter was discussed. According to Sam Ikwuezeagu, he said that he succeeded in dismissing the idea that the town union‘s problem is Umuenechi connected. He reported that after his lengthy convincing speech to his people Umuenechi, he cleared the air regarding town union, and H.R.H igwe’s interference.
Mr. Innocent Okechukwu, apologized for his lateness at the meeting, stating that he was just coming from a meeting of the water borehole committee. He continues by telling the house that H.R.H Igwe Obueke served Chief Okelue a letter from the Local Government Headquarters signed by the secretary Mr. Paul Onah. According to Mr Okechukwu, the letter was addressed to the town union electoral committee debunking the local Government awareness of the election of the town union. Mr. Okechukwu also reported that somebody broke and entered his house last Sunday and made away with some items including a phone and some important documents of the Town Union, including the acknowledgement copy of the Town union election awareness letter, given and signed by the local govt.
Mr Kenneth Aliozor advised the house that we should carry on with the programs of the town union with action and should forget about dialogue with igwe, which has been the order of the association and it has never yielded any fruit.. Mr Alizor was supported by Mr Vincent Ozoagu who said that we should not be afraid of Igwe and his group since we have the support of more dignitaries on our side. Mr. Okechukwu comments on the poor attendance of the members and suggests that we should report to the wards and age grades over the non attendance of their representatives.
The President General, Engr. Silas Anonde, told us that he tried his best to lure the councilor, Barr. Sunday Umeha to participate in the affairs of Amankwo since he is our political representative. The PG begged Mr. Councilor to help reconcile the Igwe and his cabinet, for it will assist in the development of the community.
Agenda 1- Electrification project. The PG suggested that we should go to Emeka Ozoagu to thank him for the transformer he gave us and beg him to assist us in the electrification project. The PG said that the state govt. is working towards executing electricity project in our community and that we should follow it up from where the past administration stopped so as to ensure that our effort materializes.
Correspondence: We received a letter from Enugu State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (ENRUWASA). The letter is a copy of a letter written to HRH Igwe C.C. Obueke warning him to stop disrupting the activities of the water management committee and that the committee is under the town union and not Igwe. The letter was read before the house.
Motion for adjoinment was moved by Mr. Innocent Okechukwu seconded by Mr. Aliozor Kenneth. Closing prayer was said by Mr Aliozor Kenneth.
