Town Union election was held on Saturday 7th December 2013. The election was very successful. List of the new Town Union Executives are: 1. Engr. Silas Anonde - President General, 2. Mr. Kester Ikwueze - First Vice President, 3. Mr. Uzendu Henry - Second Vice President, 4. Mr. Ikwueze Festus - Secretary General, 5. Mr. Eze Francis - Assistant Secretary General, 6. Mr. Aliozor Kenneth - Financial Secretary, 7. Mr. Charles Igboeli - Treasurer, 8. Mr. Livinus Emehelu - PRO, 9. Mr. Ibe Lawson - Provost 10. Barr. Peter Ozoagu - Legal Adviser

Town Union meeting on 28/12/09

AMANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION MEETING HELD TODAY 28TH DECEMBER 2009 AT AMANKWO IMEZI PRIMARY SCHOOL HALL

An election into the town union executives was held today 28th December 2009 at Amankwo Imezi primary school hall.

This election was made possible by a six man transition committee which was appointed in July, 2009. Members of the committee were (1) Samuel Ikwuezeagu – chairman (2) Innocent Okechukwu – Secretary (3) Livinus Emehelu – Member (4) Silas Anonde – Member (5) chief Ejim – Member (6) Evristus Njegbu – Member.

The election was presided over by Engr Ejike Anigbo, as the returning officer, assisted by Hon. Facestus Magbo. At the end of the election, the following people emerged victoriously:-
1.     President- Nwabueze Chijioke
2.     Vice President – Innocent Okechukwu
3.     Secretary – Silas Anonde
4.     Treasurer – Charles Igboeli
5.     Fin. Sec. – Everistus Ogwu
6.     P.R.O - Livinus Emehelu
7.     Provost 1 – Godwin Onuoha
A candidate was screened out by the transition committee, because he did not meet up the minimum academic requirement of SSCE or its equivalent.

Other relevant posts were not filled because no body applied for the positions. These positions include: - (1) 2nd Vice President, (2) Asst. Secretary (3) Social Secretary, (4) Provost 2 (5) Ex-officio.
The election was very peaceful, free and fair and was generally accepted by Amankwo Oghe citizens who witnessed the election.

The newly elected president, Mr. Nwabueze B Chijioke, made a speech on behalf of himself and his officers. He appreciated the mandate given to him by the entire citizen of the town. He pledged to work harmoniously with everybody in the town. Mr. Nwabueze appealed to ward chiefs to give us their best as ward representatives in the town union. He appointed Engr. Ejike Anigbo as the special adviser to the town union.

Other members of the floor commended the peaceful conduct of today’s election and gave God glory for the outcome of the election. Hon. Nicodemus Aniekwilo suggested that the minimum academic qualification of SSC for ward reps. should be removed as there may be some viable candidates from some wards who may not have the qualification. Chief Francis Ozoagu told the entire community to support the new EXCO.Hon. Face Magbo assured the new executives of the government support. Engr. Silas Anonde reminded the house that Engr. Ejike Anigbo should join the new executives to assume his office as the special adviser to the town Union. The immediate past president and his secretary expressed their joy over the outcome of today’s election.

The president in his closing remark said the first meeting of the town union with the ward chiefs and reps will hold on 1st January 2010. He insisted on the minimum academic qualification of SSC to enable every member to follow up.

The day’s meting ended with a closing prayer said by Chief Paul Emehelu.
