Town union meeting of Sundy 4th July, 2010

TOWN UNION GENERAL MEETING OF 4TH JULY 2010

The meeting was held at Amankwo Ndiagu Primary School hall
The meting started at about 12.30pm with an opening prayer said by Engr. Anigbo
The secretary read the past minute. The corrections made by Engr. Anigbo were that the official name of the Managing director of state water corporation is O’Brien Ofordu and that the local government chairman promised that he will do our road if the fund is available.
Motion for adoption was moved by Eva Ogwu and seconded by Moses Igbonekwu

Cottage Hospital
It was seen that the cottage Hospital Sign Board is already Standing at Afor Oghe and at the proposed site.

Signing of the cottage hospital land lease agreement by Igwe
Telephone correspondent from Kenneth Ogwu informed us that the lawyer was supposed to have taken the amended agreement to Igwe for signing. It was not possible to reach the lawyer at the moment to confirm whether Igwe has signed. The secretary will follow it up.

Letter from Capt. P. C Ozoagu
A letter from Capt. P.C Ozoagu was read to the general house. The secretary informed the house that this letter was the second one from the captain and said that the captain has made it a point of duty to read all the minutes and activities of the town union, from our website, and sends in his contributions through the secretary’s e-mail. The secretary also mentioned about another reader of our website, Mr. Gerald Aniamalu, from Umunonihe, who sent in his appreciation letter to the town union.

Engr. Ejike Anigbo highlighted on the website of the town union and told every member that every of their good contribution are being published on the site.
Concerning Capt. Peter’s advice that our lawyer should have been involved in the making of the cottage hospital land lease agreement, Engr. Anigbo said it is very mercenary that the secretary should respond in writing informing him that the President of the Town union who is also a lawyer was involved in the making of the agreement. He said it is important so as to make it easy for the captain to also send it across through e-mail to other concerned citizens. Capt. Peter’s contributions in other areas were noted.

Letter received from Ezeagu North
The secretary has responded to the letter and everybody okayed the reply.
People reacted on the location of the proposed Building material market. Many people suggested the former technical school site. Another suggestion is between Iwollo and Amankwo. This issue of where to locate the market is not all that necessary at this time, since it is not confirmed that the market will be in Amankwo, as the same request letter given to us were also given to other communities in Oghe.
Constitution Review Committee.
The secretary reported that the committee had their First sitting at Engr. Ejike Anigbo’s resident at Enugu. He said the committee proposed to be meeting every two weeks. Engr. Ejike Anigbo explained how far the committee have gone and said the first thing we have done was to place the hierarchy of the governing body in Amankwo. He equally said that the constitution is for Amankwo Oghe and not only for the town union. He said that every body should make effort to supply us every information that could help us. The secretary promised to get the constitution of Amankwo Oghe in Lagos as adviced by Capt. Peter, through his elder brother.
The Vice President Mr. Innocent Okechukwu, commended the Constitution Review Committee, said that they deserved a purse to offset their expenses. He however encouraged them to continue their selfless effort and prayed for God to bless them. The V.P said the committee should be giving us progress report in every meeting.
Another issue is the entrance gate in Amankwo.
The V.P reminded everybody to come up with a design. This design should include the logo to depict our culture. This issue of our culture generated lots of interest on the history of Amankwo. Lots of stories were told from different people on why we bear such names like “ ogbute ola na edu, nkakwu chufuru inine bichie ezi be ya” notably among the story was the one from Mr. Emmanuel Udemadu, who gave us what seem to be the complete history of Oghe and Amankwo. People suggested that his story is of interest to be used as article in our website. However, Sir Johnson Oguanya suggested that we should not publish such in our site, as some other community will feel offended to hear that they are not the true sons of Oghe according to the story. Though Sir Johnson confirmed Mr. Emmanuel’s story as being the truth. However, it was ruled that a culture/history committee may be set up to get the true culture / history of our community, Amankwo.

Mr. Christopher Ozomma called and said the president and secretary of the Town union is required to meet with the Governor at the Government house, Enugu on Tuesday 6th July,2010 by 4.00pm prompt. The Vice president and the secretary are to attend the meeting.
Motion for adjournment was moved by Mr. John Onwuama seconded by Cornelius Obiekwe.

Closing prayer was said by Eva Ogwu at about 2.45pm
