TOWN UNION MEETING OF 5TH SEPTEMBER 2010

TOWN UNION MEETING OF 5TH SEPTEMBER 2010
The meeting was held at Amankwo Imezi Primary School hall

The meting started with an opening prayer said by Mr. Peter Madu at about 1.30pm.
The secretary was not able to come with the hard copy of the past minute, though it has been published on our website. He explained that he returned to the village for burial of his uncle’s wife which was concluded the previous day and could not get back to his base to bring the minutes. He however narrated the content of the minutes and equally briefed the house on other activities attended by the town executives.

The president in his opening remark appologised for coming late, he said it was due to important appointments he attended before the meeting, which also concerns the town union.

Hon. Festus Magbo briefed the house on the meeting the town union had with the commissioner for chieftaincy matters, in which an opposition government formed by Hon. Geoffrey Ozor in Amankwo Ndiagu was rip to shreds. The president told the house how he was informed of Geoffrey Ozor’s activities and his swift action to stop him by the letter he wrote to the commissioner, which necessitated the commissioner’s invitation for the meeting. At the meeting, the commissioner informed the Amankwo community that there is nothing like Amankwo Ndiagu autonomous community and as such nothing like Amankwo Ndiagu Town Union as claimed by the seditious leader Hon. Geoffrey Ozor. However, the commissioner noted our unalloyed request for Amankwo Ndiagu Autonomous community and said he will forward the request to the governor. (Read full details of the meeting with the commissioner on our website www.amankwo-oghe.blogspot.com)

A letter from Amankwo Ndiagu Development Union Lagos branch was read. The union commended the town union on their activities especially on the quick intervention on the crises in Amankwo Ndiagu. They expressed their support on the resolutions of the town union. They however called on the town union to set up audit committee to audit income and expenditure of those handling cash in the community to ensure transparency in the financial dealing which they see as the major cause of the crises. It was ruled that the secretary should respond to their letter, thanking them and informing them of our inability to set up the audit committee due to work load at the moment.

CONSTITUTION
The constitution was not ready as promised by the committee. It was resolved that an executive committee will meet with the constitution committee on Sunday 12th September 2010 to tidy up the constitution. The meeting will be held at Engr. Ejike Anigbo’s resident.
The constitution will be presented to the general assembly of the community for the readings and approval on Sunday 3rd October 2010. On this note the secretary is directed to write various organs/groups in the community inviting them to attend this general assembly meting in Ocober.
The secretary is also to write the Amankwo Ndiagu Neighbourhood watch explaining to them that we were not able to complete our work on the approved levies in the community and plead for their patience.

Disloyal chiefs
It was also noted that some chiefs in Amankwo Ndiagu who were being deceived by Hon. Geoffrey Ozor did not attend the Igwe in council meeting held last Saturday, in spite of the warnings to them by the town union that all chief must be attending the Igwe in council meeting at the Igwe’s palace. After deliberations on how to handle the offence, the secretary was instructed to write the chiefs informing them of our dismay over their stubbornness.

The president briefed the house on the meeting held with the local government chairman and the town union presidents and secretaries. He said it was about the security especially on how to combat the criminal activities at Ugwueke. He also informed us of the chairman’s continued promise to grade our road (Amankwo road).
The Hon. Councilor expressed his feelings for the expenses being incurred to run the town union activities, which come from individual purse. He said the government is working out a way of funding the town union.

Motion for adornment was moved by John Onwuama seconded by Ogbuchi Tobias Closing prayer was said by Engr. Anigbo at about 3.30pm.
