MANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION MEETING OF 7TH APRIL 2013

AMANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION MEETING OF 7TH APRIL 2013 Meeting started at about 2.30pm with an opining prayer said by Mr. Michael Ozor. The secretary read the past minutes and motion for adoption was moved by Mr. Peter Madu seconded by Mr. Sam Ikwezeagu. The meeting was presided over by the Vice President Mr. Innocent Okechukwu as the president could not return for the meeting. Borehole at Amankwo Imezi The Vice President gave a report on how far the borehole was going on. He said that the borehole is almost completed and that water has been pumped and people came and fetch it. He said that our people were very happy and that they commended The Town Union for their effort to ensure that the borehole was a reality. He said the commissioning was proposed to take place last Thursday, but for the minor fault (some leakage along the welded joints) which will be rectified soon. He equally said the list of the management committee has been sent to the government which has been accepted. He said the commissioning will be done later after all the problems have been put in place. A discussion on how to make the water available for our people For the water to be available for people, money is required to buy diesel for the generator set. However it has not been known how much diesel that is required to run it for a day. Some people suggested the water to be sold, while some said it will be better for the community to contribute money and people fetch water free. It is concluded that the water committee should try to find that the cost of running the borehole for a specific period, a day or a week. If the cost is known then we can appeal to our good people for sponsor so that people can fetch water free. The rich is meant to provide for the poor. Interim Government of the Town Union. It was realized that the purported interim government inaugurated by HRH Igwe C.C. Obueke, has continued to forge ahead by submitting the report to poverty alleviation office (the office in charge of Town Unions in Enugu State). The purported interim government is headed by Geoffrey Ozor. The secretary and Vice President were mandated to go to the office and find out if it is true, thereafter, take necessary action to avert Igwe’s plan to forceful dissolve the town union. Their action should be based on the President General’s directives. The Town Union also ruled that necessary actions should be taken against Geoffrey Ozor if it is true they continued their plan to overthrow the present leadership of the Town Union, as this is the second attempt he has made to topple the present regime of the town union. Refuse Dump to PRO Mr. Livinus Emehelu’s compound The PRO Mr. Livinus Emehelu reported that a group of people from Amankwo Etiti, lead by Mr. Hyginus Inyiama, came and dumped green leaves in his compound. He showed us the picture. It was purported that they did it to show their grievance over what happened to one of their kinsmen, Sir Johnson Oguanya, (Sir Johnson Oguanya was issued a letter by HRH Igwe C.C Obueke to stop parading himself as Miri na ezoru ora 1 on Amankwo as he never installed him a chief in Amankwo) which they said it was our PRO that delivered the letter. However it was not clear if it was Sir Johnson that sponsored their action. It was concluded the town union should invite them in writing to come and explain their actions during our next meeting. The President General should be consulted before any action. Correspondents Two letters were received from Amankwo Oghe Community The letters were addresses to Mr Kelvin Anigbo and Sir, Johnson Oguanya respectively, and were captioned self acclaimed chief. In the letters H.R.H Igwe C.C. Obueke said that the two individuals claimed that they were made chief without his knowledge, a claimed which has caused him and the entire community some embarrassment. He therefore warned them never to parade themselves as chiefs until such title is duly conferred on them. The letter was signed by HRH Igwe C.C Obueke, The cabinet secretary, Chief Edwin Okechukwu and the Town Union President, Mr. Nwabueze Chijioke. Motion for adjournment was moved by Sam Ikwezeagu, second by Charles Igboeli closing prayer was said by Mr. Madu Peter at about 4.30pm
