AMANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION MEETING OF DECEMBER 2014

AMANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION MEETING. The meeting of the above named association held on the 7th of December 2014. It was declared opened by the town union president Engr. Silas Anonde with an opening prayer said by Hon.Samuel Ikwuegeagu by 1.40 pm prompt. Engr. Anonde waived the reading of minute since the secretary was not present with the minutes. However, the major agenda was the letter that we agreed to circulate to all the relevant government offices. He informed the house that the said letter titled ‘the position of president-General of Amankwo Oghe’ written by the elected and inaugurated town union headed by Anonde Silas, has been submitted to the right offices in Enugu state government and that the Deputy chairman of Ezeagu L.G.A received the letter addressed to the office of the chairman Ezeagu Local Government Council, as there was no body to receive the letter at the Chairman’s office after 3 good attempts . He said he was invited by the Commissioner of Police on the letter, that the police said he should come at his convenient to explain more on the letter. According to him, after due consultations with the leaders of thoughts, chiefs and elders of the community, he was generally advised to go to the police with his constitutional authorities to protest the false imposition of unelected person in the person of Evang Clifford Okechukwu as the President General and the non recognition of the elected persons by the government in power. Secondly, we should demand for recognition and certificate of returns as duly elected members of the town union to enable us function or operate actively without fear or molestation by any ganged up parties. Hon. Ikwuezeagu Samuel, was of the opinion that, we should forget about going to the police for protest or report, suggesting that we go to court to seek redress and injunction to stop the other party from parading themselves as town union Executives. The suggestion by Mr.Ikwuezeagu was supported by the former vice president of the town union, Mr. Innocent Okechukwu; Mr. Charles Igbochi and Mr. Eze Francis Chukwudi. The President General, Silas Anonde in his reaction to the responses, agreed that the right to do is to seek redress at the law court. However, he made us to understand that legal proceedings is capital intensive and that he would not want the community to waste our resources should not be blamed for taking Amankwo to court. Mr. Innocent Okechukwu said it not Amankwo that we are taking to court but Pst. Clifford Okechukwu and his cohorts. It was ruled that the case has reached a stage that we demand resolution through legal process and not going from one commissioner’s office to another without achieving our aim. It was concluded that we should not go to the police instead seek injunction from the court. Mr. Ikwuezeagu Samuel was delegated to meet the lawyer tomorrow for the said injunction. The P.G. reported to us that on a faithful day when he went to submit the letter to Divisional Police officer, Aguobuowa, one boy called mgbo on seeing him begin to demand from the police for his arrest, though his request was flouted or barred. Agenda 2 SME Loan On the Enugu state SME loan issue, Mr. Anonde revealed to the house that the loan scheme is still in progress, that any interested person(s) should go to any of the recommended bank and open an account, obtain SME form and fill, that the first form is now invalid. Still on this, after much reports and deliberation, we concluded that our P.G should sign for the interested persons provided that the person is identifiable and from Amankwu Oghe. Mr. Ikwuezeagu moved for adjournment which was seconded by Mr. Charles Igboeli. A situation repot about improvement in the issue of borehole functioning during this harmathan. The borehole reconstruction team visited our borehole at Amankwo Imezi Primary school, promising to reconstruct or correct any problem of the water borehole before tomorrow being 8th of December 2014.so that we will have water supply during this X-mas season.
