TOWN UNION GENERAL MEETING OF 5TH APRIL 2010

Town union General Meeting on 5th April 2010

This meeting was held at Amankwo Imezi Primary School

Ben Hope Ukata said the opening prayer at about 1.20pm
The sectary read the minutes of the past meeting and motion for adoption was moved by Mr. Innocent Okechukwu and seconded by Eva Ogwu.

Ward representative
The first issue discussed was the ward representative. This ward representative
problem is of two folds. Ward Representatives that have not attended meeting with
the new regime for the first time and those who are always absent from meetings.
We resolved as follows:-
1.     A fine of N500 is to be paid by ward representatives that is absent from our general meetings. However, a genuine excuse by text massage may be accepted.
2.     For those who have not registered their presence for the first time, with the present regime,  It was agreed as follows: -  a) their names will be deleted from our register b) Town Union shall have the right to replace the reps with any suitable person from their wards,  c) A fine of N 2000 will be imposed on any ward that their 3 reps. have not reported to the meeting. The above will take effect from next meeting. The sectary should write the ward chiefs informing them of the above resolution.

The president reminded us that we agreed on the construction of entrance gate
Walls with concrete and an inscription “WELCOME TO AMANKWO OGHE” on
top,  at Amankwo Road. We agreed that anybody who has an idea should come
with the sketch and cost of budding it by next meeting.

Community Road maintenance
The president informed us that the grading of Amankwo Road, which was done
sometime in March 2010 was done by him. He said that his intention was to make
sure that our road is in good shape and that it should be part of the town union
activities to maintain the road. Part of the maintenance measure was to pour
red mud (laterals) to help prevent erosion We deliberated on the source of fund to
buy the red mud/ the road maintenance. The issue was postponed till the next meeting.

Water project
It was discovered that the borehole project at the CPS Amankwo Imezi is not going on as expected. We agreed that the Town Union should write Ruwasa on the issue, to see whether the water project will be completed.

Letterhead for the Town Union. The president promised to do the letterhead for us.
Authority letter form Igwe. The secretary explained the efforts made to get the letter from Igwe and his cabinet, which eventually failed. Recall that an authority letter was demanded by the town union to empower them to supervie the cottage hospital project. The secretary was directed to write Igwe on the matter informing him of our displeasure for their refusal to write the letter. It was also agreed that we should forget Igwe’s letter and forge ahead with negotiation with Obuna Community. We agreed to  meet with Obuna people after the meeting.

Motion for adjournment was moved by Eva Ogwu and seconded by Eva Njegbu.  Closing prayer was said by Livinus. Emehelu about 3.00pm
