Town Union election was held on Saturday 7th December 2013. The election was very successful. List of the new Town Union Executives are: 1. Engr. Silas Anonde - President General, 2. TOWN UNION MEETING OF OCTOBER 3RD 2010

TOWN UNION MEETING OF 3RD OCTOBER 2010
This meeting was held at the community primary school Amankwo Imezi. It was a kind of General assembly meeting as all the stake holders in the community were invited for this meeting.

The meting started at about 2.00pm with an opening prayer said by hon. Nicodemus Aniekwilo.

The town union president made an opening remark remanding everybody that the town union has circulated information for this occasion. He gave a run down of the agenda for the day, said the major issue in today’s meeting is the reading of the draft constitution of Amankwo Oghe to the general assembly of our people. Few copies of the constitution were distributed.

At a glance of the caption on the distributed constitution, Mr. Emeka Oga pointed out that the name is town union constitution instead of Amankwo Oghe constitution as advertised in the invitation letters. He frowned at this development and said was not coming home because of the Town Union Constitution.
The Constitution draft committee secretary, Engr. Silas Anonde in his response said the constitution is the Amankwo Oghe constitution and not the Town Union Constitution. He said Emeka Oga’s observation of the caption is noted and will be corrected. He further said that people should be patient to listen to the entire constitution before making comments. Some other people also raised hands to make their own comments but the President General pleaded with everybody to reserve their comments until the constitution is read.

The draft constitution secretary, Engr. Silas Anonde, briefed the assembly on the efforts made by the community to gather information and ideals from various bodies and individual, which the community articulated using their own intellectual to come up with this draft. After his brief introduction, the Vice President Mr. Innocent Okechukwu, read the draft constitution to the people.

SUGGESTIONS FROM PEOPLE
After reading the constitution, people made various inputs.
Hon. Nicodemus Anikwilo suggested the constitution be distributed to the 15 wards in Amankwo for people to go and study and make relevant inputs. Mr. Emeka Oga is of the same opinion, said there is no time for people to make correction within the meeting. Also Mr Simion Aguedu, representing Amankwo Oghe Abuja Branch and Mr. Livinus Akadieze, reprenting a group of Amankwo in Lagos are of the same opinion that the constitution be distributed for people to go and study and come back for necessary corrections.
It was ruled that copies of the constitution be distributed to people to go and study and come back with their inputs by the first Sunday in November 2010, when another general assembly will be held to ratify the constitution. The president in his comment told the house that he is seeing the constitution for the first time today. Said he intentionally avoided being part of the draft constitution to avoid undue influence. He made his own corrections right there at the meeting.

At this moment HRH Igwe C.C Obueke arrived and everybody stood and greeted him. Igwe said he was not able to be at this venue on time because various engagements he had. He said he tried to squeeze time to show his support to what we are doing. Igwe commented bon the October occasion, said it is not what it was in the past. Igwe noted that the time for our October feast is Saturday and not Sunday. He also frowned at divisions among our people, especially those in Lagos who have up to three groups. Said he knew about it when one of the groups came to him to inform him that the want to present set of Band and Exercise books for the primary school children. He urged the Town Union to see if they can unite them.
He announced to Amankwo that the Town Union president is contesting for National House of representatives. On that note Mr. Nwabueze formally decaled himself and gave us crates can bear and malt. Hon Magbo supported him with 3 cartons of beer; Mr. Emeka Oga supported him with 3 cartons of beer also. Igwe stayed for a moment and told us to continue with what we are doing as he will go and attend to other important functions.

Based on Igwe’s recommendation that the Town Union should make effort to unite the factions in Lagos branch, a committee was set up to look into the Lagos problem. The members are:-

The factions were asked to send a memorandum to the committee through the secretary, Engr. Anonde, explaining the cause of their problems and proffer possible solutions, to reach them before next meeting November 7th 2010. The groups were represented at the meeting by Mr. Livinus Akadieze, one faction, Mr. Emeka Oga. Amankwo Ndiagu faction, Betrand Igwenagu and his members represented another faction in Amankwo Imezi.

PRESENTATION OF SET OF BAND AND EXERCISE BOOKS
one of the group in lagos, headed by Bertrand Igwenagu presented set of Band and Excise looks for the primary school he said the group is called Amankwo progressive congress Lagos branch.
The president received the gifts on behalf of the town union thank them .he said the book should be shared between Amankwo Ndiagu and Amankwo Imezi primary schools, While the band should be at Amankwo Imezi. He advised the headmistress Mrs. Odume to take care of the gifts.

DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS IN THE COMMUNITY
Cottage hospital
The president informed the community that 28 December 2010 is the day for foundation laying lunching of the hospital. Said arrangements are in progress to attract men of dignitary and government functionaries to come and donate for the hospital building.

Hon. Festus Magbo said work on the construction of Amankwo road will commence as soon as the rain subsides. He equally said the issue of bore-hole and electricity are being followed up.

The youth leader also appealed to the town. Union and Amankwo that they need support. motion for enjoinment was moved by Chief Frances Ozoagu seconded by Mr. Madu Peter. Closing prayer was said by Mr. Peter Madu at about 5.30pm.

Total cash collected = N 16,000

EXPENSES
N 10,000 paid to NTA man
N 3,000 paid for public address system

Balance of N 3,000 was given to the secretary for photocopies and other secretarial duties.
