MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 5TH AUGUST 2012
AMANKWO OGHE TOWN UNION
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 5TH AUGUST 2012
The meeting was held at Amankwo Imezi Primary School
Before the meeting started 2 minutes silent was observed for late Hon. Festus Magbo, who was our member, and late Chief Cletus Magbo, who was the traditional prime minister. Both died about two weeks ago.
The meeting started at about 1.00pm with an opening prayer said by Mr. Livinus Emehelu. The secretary read the past minute of July 1st 2012. Motion for adoption was moved by Mr. Aniagba Mike seconded by Mr. Charles Igboeli.
The meeting was presided over by the Vice President, Mr. Innocent Okechukwu, as the president did not come home.
Report from the water committee.
The vice president in his report said the committee did not go to the State Government as was agreed during the last meeting. This is because the contractor was back to the site before the committee could make a move. The contractor, Mr. Ndubisi and his men, who actually came back to see if they can remove the debris in the bore hole, said that the bolehole is permanently blocked. He said that all effort made to remove whatever that has blocked the borehole was not successful. He said the only option left was to drill another borehole. Mr. Ndubisi, the contractor, in the present of the secretary, Engr. Silas, communicated his findings to the Managing director of Rural Water and Sanitation Authority (RUWASA). According to Engr. Silas Anonde who later communicated in detail to the M.D RUWASA, the managing director said the incident was very unfortunate as the government does not have provision for drilling another borehole. He said that the government was ready to complete the project which includes the over head tank, the riser sumor pump and power generating set. According to the M.D he said that all the above is ready and that the community should make effort to drill another borehole as soon as possible to replace the damaged one, so that the government will come to complete the rest. He said that the cost of drilling another borehole is about N1.5 Million naira. He said he will be of assistant anytime we are ready to drill the borehole.
After the report from Engr. Silas Anonde, almost all the members present contributed ideas on the way forward. It was concluded that we should write an appeal letters to individuals and branches of Amankwo Oghe unions. But before that we should first meet with both the Managing Director RUWASA and the Managing Director of State water cooperation to solicit for assistant from the government to re-drill the borehole and also know the actual stand of the government on the issue.
Payment of annual subvention and registration fees from the wards and age grades.
Only Izama na Etiti ward paid today while others promised to pay before next meeting.
Tenure of the present house
The letter that was written on the tenure issue was shared to members present to deliver to their wards and age grades. It was made clear in the letter that those who owe the registration and annual subvention fees will not be accepted to participate in the formation of the next town union house, coming up on 28th December 2012.
