Town Union visit to the local Government Chairman and Managing Director Enugu State Water corporation.

Based on our May 2010 general meeting resolutions, the executives of the town union paid a courtesy visit to the Local Government Chairman on 16th May 2010 at his resident in Enugu.
The Chairman, Hon. Barr. Azinze J. Ogbuka received us very well. Among our major request from him is the grading of Amankwo Road, the water borehole and electricity. Barr. Ogbuka said he has earlier promised us that he will maintain the road. He further said that his concern is about some structures that are too close to the road, which might obstruct the expansion of the road. The town union agreed that he could do away with the structures to give us good road. The chairman promised to commence work on the Amankwo road without delay. On the issue of Electricity, he told us that the Local Govt. could not afford the counterpart fund being demanded by the Rural Electrification board for them to commence work in his local govt. He promise going back to renegotiate with the board.

From the House of the Local Government Chairman, we took off to pay courtesy visit to Hon. Fide Ofodu, the M.D Enugu State Water Corporation and Special Assistant to Governor on Water. This visit was made possible through phone call by Engr. Ejike Anigbo, who persuaded the MD to receive us even though we did not give him early notice.

At the MD’s house, after due introduction of the town union executives to him by the Councilor, Hon. Face Magbo, we tabled the issue of water and Electricity tabled to him. The M.D Hon. Fide Ofodu said it was fund that is delaying the water borehole and assured us that the bore hole will be completed as soon as the state government releases fund. On the issue of Electricity, he told us that Amankwo was one of the communities listed by the government for the rural electrification. He said it was lack of fund by the state government that is delaying some of these projects and promised that we will not be left behind anytime the fund is released.
