TOWN UNION MEETING OF 7TH NOVEMBER 2010
The meeting was held at Amankwo Ndiagu Primary School.
Opening prayer was said by Chief Mike Chijioke at about 1.40pm.
The secretary read the past minute of October 2010 meeting. The only correction made was that the name of the person that spoke on behalf the youths of Amankwo Imezi is Okezie Madu and that that he represented Amankwo Imezi Youths and not just Amankwo Youths as was recorded. After the correction motion for adoption was moved by Chief Ozor Innocent and Charly Igboli.
Distribution of the draft constitution
The sectary said he has distribution the draft constitution as directed. He explained that copies were sent to the Igwe in Council during their meeting to be given to ward chiefs. Copies were also mailed to some people’s e-mail address for their branch as well as publishing same on the town union web site.
However, some people said it did not reach them. On that note the secretary asked the house to proffer a better mode of circulating such information. At the end it was realized that the method used was still the best for now. The president general observed that our problem is that some ward chiefs do not relay such vital information to their ward members thereby keeping them dark. On the other hand the following chiefs:- Chief Paul Emehelu, Chief, Joseph Ogbuchi, Chief Charles Okelue, Chief Ikechukwu Owgudile were exonerated from this lapse as their ward representatives said those chiefs read the draft to their ward meetings, though non of them came with any reviews or corrections.
Some people said their ward has no representative at the Igwe in council meeting as a result of death of their chiefs. On that note the president ruled that those wards that has no representatives at the Igwe in council meeting should appoint representatives, so that their wards will no longer lack information disseminated through that channel. Those to be appointed are not automatically made chiefs. This resolution is to be communicated to Igwe in writing by the secretary.
Reviews on the draft constitution
Abuja branch of the town union sent their reviews through the secretary. Also Capt P.C Ozoagu sent a complete review of the constitution via the secretary. The secretary also emphasized on Cap. P. C Ozoagu contributions since the inception of this present regime and equally told the house that the captain volunteered to be a legal adviser to the town union.
On the issue of the constitution, it was ruled that the committee should welcome more inputs from people/groups, especially from the Igwe in council who have not sent in anything, and as soon as they get much within the time frame should go ahead and conclude the constitution.
Appointments
Based on Capt. P .C Ozoagu’s contributions and his volunteer to assist the Town Union, as a legal adviser, it was agreed that he be made the legal adviser to Amankwo Oghe Town Union. The secretary was directed to communicate him and Igwe in council on the appointment.
Developmental projects
The president briefed the house on the construction of the Amakwo Road, which is being graded by the Ezeagu Local Government council. He said that more projects will come, including electricity and another Bone-hole at Amankwo Ndiagu.
